Adintelo and the Barco foundation worked together to develop an application that helps to gather fundamental information about rural education in Colombia.
In the framework of the post-conflict in Colombia, the Barco Foundation together with Adintelo created an application that allows you to apply surveys in the most remote places of the country.
Barco Foundation:
The Barco foundation is one of the oldest private foundations focused on education in Colombia, with more than 50 years of work. To promote the development of sustainable, adaptable and measurable educational models to improve learning in children and adolescents, through partnerships, public policy advocacy and knowledge management, favoring rural areas.
Barco Foundation and Adintelo:
The Barco foundation needed a partner to develop an application that will be crucial for the strategic development of its organization in rural schools in Colombia, a fundamental and important task for both the foundation and Adintelo.
The challenge:
The Barco foundation, in the face of its project for the promotion and collection of fundamental data for the correct development of education in post-conflict Colombia, needed a tool that would allow it to unify the data of hundreds of schools and students in order to know the quality, processes and subjects that were being taught in rural schools in the country.
The Barco foundation had a big challenge at hand, develop an application that could collect a large amount of data off/online and then send that data to a website and feed it to a macro database, to achieve this, the following problems needed to be solved:
- The application and the share point page developed should be understandable for anyone, both for teachers of rural schools, volunteers and workers of the foundation, it should be clear and understandable.
- Online / Offline: This power app had to work offline, due to the fact that a great number of remote rural schools in the country do not have internet signals.
- Understandable Share point: The information collected should be clear and understandable for researchers, donors and external public of the foundation.
The solution:
Adintelo found a solution to these problems, which have been a historical problem in the development of education in rural areas of Colombia and a crucial point for the correct strategic development of the Barco Foundation in the following way:
- The application: We implemented a friendly and understandable application for everyone, in which we sought to develop three questionnaires, taking the most important questions of each of them and developing a single survey to collect as much data as possible and still felt understandable.
- On line / Off line: Through the constant work of Adintelo’s developers we were able to develop a Power App capable of working offline, storing large amounts of data and transmitting this information effectively when connected to an internet network.
- A friendly share point: Adintelo developers managed to create a share point that would expose the data obtained by the application in a clear and concise way, facilitating the data collection processes.
Adintelo developed a data collection system adaptable to the Colombian rurality, capable of gathering quality information fundamental for the correct development of the strategy developed by the Barco Foundation.
